The Student Health Awareness Center’s Michelle and Jennifer Tobias Adventure to Health is the only one of its kind in the state. This interactive, educational wonderland allows visitors learn about the human body in a wondrous environment.
Designed for children ages 6 and up, Adventure to Health offers a colorful maze of 18 interactive stations that’s on par with the sophisticated exhibits offered at health science museums. It also includes a 25-seat theater area, which features entertaining multimedia presentations and demonstrations.
Parents and teachers love that children are learning important life lessons. And kids, well, they just think..."It’s really cool!"
Engaging. Entertaining. Educational.
Upon entering the exhibit, visitors find themselves transported inside a human torso—from the "spine" curving along the ceiling, to "ribs" interspersed among 18 interactive stations along each wall.
The stations engage and entertain while educating visitors about:

Germs and how they spread

Follow us on a mini-journey through Adventure to Health!
Kids can start off at the "Scan Me" station where they step into the scanning zone, select their age, and press the start button. Lights and sounds are activated, while weight, height, and body mass index are calculated and displayed discreetly. Then they’re off and running to the 17 other stations, such as:
Healthy Highway Drive‑Thru: In this colorful station, kids are sent through a simulated drive-thru and asked to choose balanced meals from a touch-screen menu. After orders have been entered, nutritional results are calculated, conveying the importance of making healthy choices according to nutritional guidelines.
Organ-ize Me: Kids are sent on a journey through the body with a mission to supply nutrients to various organs. Along the way, they are taught about the basic functions of the digestive system.
Communication Station: This station allows kids to sample different ways to communicate using various sensory modes, including touch, sound and sight. The exhibit demonstrates how hearing reacts to music, noises, and language. Kids can also type their name and see it illustrated in Braille and sign language.
Play it Safe: Displays various "drag & drop" matching games concerning safety around the home, rules of the road, protective gear for sporting activities, internet and personal safety, and emergency response.
Pedal Power: Kids can take a ride on a stationary bike that measures their energy output and teaches them about expending energy. And, they can even play against each other using Pedal Power’s PlayStation® 2 gaming system.

Children 6 and older $8 (For families with multiple children 6 and older: $8 for first child, $7 for second, $6 for each additional child)

*Adventure to Health is best appreciated by children 6 and older. Children younger than 6 must be accompanied by a paying adult who will be responsible for that child only. We regret that we are unable to accommodate strollers in the exhibit area for safety reasons.
Information for groups
Adventure to Health can comfortably accommodate groups of up to 25.
It can take 30 to 90 minutes or more to fully explore Adventure to Health, depending on the group size, ages of group members, and individual curiosity.
Adult chaperones must accompany groups.
Birthday Parties
Host an exciting, enlightening birthday for up to 18 children at the Star and Barry Tobias Health Awareness Center featuring Adventure to Health:
1½ hours of education and entertainment in Adventure to Health. Party area featuring TAM, the anatomical mannequin.
Healthy snacks are available, or parents can bring their own. Goody bags for party-goers, and a special gift for the birthday child.
Available Saturday or Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
